Please READ
When I was growing up my mother had her way of making me do or look for things. When I ask here where something is, she would tell me to look for it. After looking for 1 minute, I'd go back to her and ask her where it is, she would say, "Use your eyes, not your mouth for look." She did it a few times with me and I learned my lesson.
This has been my belief. I would try to figure out things first before asking for help. If I feel I have been given the tools and the skills and the resources, why not look for the solution to the problem, right?
Of course, it it's something I really don't know, I ask for help.
I noticed a lot of people who don't seem to know how to follow instructions or don't know how to read. I've posted a few want ads online and there's always someone who will ask me what to do when the instructions are shown clearly in my ads.
Example:
We are looking for workers, blah, blah, blah.
Requirements are la d ida...
If interested, send me a message through my Skype ID [[ my ID]] or send me an e-mail [[ my email address]].
I would get a comment like this:
Hi I'm interested. I have worked as blah blah and I have la di da. My Skype ID is [[something]].
Come on! Didn't I give my contact info? Do you expect me to contact you when there are others who have already submitted their requirements?
And there are those who, for some reason, need to be told what to do. I posted the link to my blog where the ad was posted. This is on Facebook. The content of the post didn't show on Facebook, just the link to the blog plus the heading Someone is looking for workers...
Someone posted a comment, "How do I apply?" I think it's pretty obvious that the natural thing to do is to follow the link.
Sigh...
Reminds me of this cartoon from Johnny Wander:

Work Woes
I'm a homebased freelancer. People who learn of what I do automatically think my life is easy. Very WRONG! Since I don't have co-workers, I am left all alone to fend for myself.
I am working for someone who trusts me so much that he leaves me alone while he does his thing. Ang problema pag kailangan ko ng support or I need clarification, ang hirap nyang hagilapin. Pag nag roll out sya ng bagong information about a new product, gagawin na lang nya without informing me. Akala nya siguro mind reader ako kaya alam ko lahat. It's so frustrating kasi I want to be good at what I do, I want to give the best possible customer experience. Kuha sya ng CEO nya na di rin alam kung paano sasagutin mga tanong ko.
The other person I am working for, supper support naman. Ok sana kaso may kulang sa instructions nya or when he explain things parang hindi ko maintindihan. I think it's a cultural thing and it's not personal but it's really hard. May gusto syang ipagawa at gagawin ko naman. Tapos sasabihin nya kulang eh yung instructions nya kulang din.
One employer thinks I'm sooooo good I can read minds while the other probably thinks I'm stupid because I don't understand him. Hindi ko alam kung matatawa ako or maiinis. Hehehe.

Chismis
My maternal grandmother has been bedridden for about a month now. I've seen how her state of mind deteriorated in less than a year. She’s now getting weaker every day.
My uncle and auntie have been taking care of her. Nahihirapan din sila kasi they are also old and sick. Last week, I called a relative, an aunt in the province, and asked her if she could find a maid to take care of my lola. She said she will try. I told her how my lola is, told her she is bedridden with bed sores na. These are signs that she may go soon. But her spirit is stronger than her body. Nakakasigaw pa sya.
Last Sunday, I got a text message from my aunt from the province saying that she heard from another relative that my lola is in coma. My aunt wants to know if she would still have to look for a maid. I was in a shock, I did not know if I should get upset or if I should laugh.
I wanted to laugh because in spite of the supposedly condition of my lola, my relative was more concerned our arrangement with the maid. Nakupo! Displaced priorities or concerns?
I wanted to get upset because I was not sure the story was true. I had a feeling the person who relayed the message made an automatic assumption that my lola is in a coma and passed on this story to another relative. I got more upset when I tried to call people but their phones were either unattended or turned off. I could not call my uncle or auntie who were taking care of my lola because I did not want them to know where the story came from, it might offend them specially my uncle. I had to leave work a little early to check what's happening. Buti na lang my brother's phone was turned on so I was able to ask him to call my auntie to ask if Lola's ok. He texted me later saying lola is still the same. I was glad to hear that but I was still upset over the coma story. I informed my sister as soon as she got home from church. She told me that earlier she called another relative and told her how our lola is doing. She mentioned to her that lola is bedridden and did not mention anything about her being in a coma. I told her I had a feeling someone changed the story. My sister had to call a cousin to tell our relative that Lola is bedridden and not in a coma.
Although I know that the person who changed the word "bedridden" to "comatose" from the story had no bad intentions when she said that. Still, this is no excuse to be irresponsible with your words or relaying stories that are untrue and potentially hurtful. I was afraid my uncle would learn of this and get upset. Worse, my mom would hear of this and get really upset. She is abroad and she feels helpless there. I do not want her to get upset over chismis like this.
This is the work of idle minds. When people with minds are not preoccupied with more important things, they tend to create stories from nothing. Some of my relatives have been idle for a long time, no work, no play, just plain day to day nothingness. What's even worse is that they people they have been mingling with are not good influences. My relative's circle of friends have been encouraging her to take part in idle talk and destructive ideas or thoughts. Hay naku...
Remember, people will judge you by your actions, not your intentions. You may have a heart of gold -- but so does a hard-boiled egg.- Anonymous

Good Heavens! Good Luck!
The heat is starting to get worse! Sumasakit na ulo ko sa init. I'm worried I won't be able to get quality sleep beacause of this. Haayy.
It's my off. I was able to finish my laundry yesterday, 3 batches. Kung may pera lang ako bibili ako ng automatic washing machine para isang saksakan lang puwede ko na iwan. What I'm using now is semi-automatic. Oh well...
This morning, I was amused at the news on Unang Hirit. Erap can run again according to him. Sabi na nga ba. Kaya maingay sya kasi he's a sore loser and he wants to oust the person who took his place. Kulang siguro nahuthot nya during his term and he wants more.
I'm glad some of the people during the inter-faith rally walekd out when Erap spoke. The people who walked out showed some delikadesa. Erap had no right to speak there since he is corrupt himself. Na aliw ako when a media man from Agence France Press pratically pinpointed to Erap na mandarambong sya. Napikon daw si Erap. Hehehe. Eh diba totoo naman? He was convicted of plunder and now he wants GMA to step down so he can pick up where he left off? He's a freaking hypocrite!
I am also dismayed at what's been happening to Jun Lozada. Why is he going from school to school, town to town to campaign? Tatakbo ba sya or nagpo-promote ng pelikula? Who is funding this campaign thing of Lozada? What is his purpose? What's the real reason behind the people who are pushing him to do this? If I were Lozada, I should be wary of the people who are using him. Once he has served his purpose, he will be useless to them. No one is indispensable.
If GMA steps down. who will take her place? Laht nagkakaisa para paalisin si GMA but when asked who will take her place, nagkakagulo na, hindi na sila magkaisa. Hay naku... Lumalabas ang mga real motives.
We are a country of hypocrites talaga.
I am for the cause, but not with the system. Nadinig ko na ito dati, nung nasa college pa ako. Panahon pa ni Makoy, alam nyo naman sa UP, mahilig sa churky hehehe. Who will take GMA's place? I don't think there is anyone qualified to take her place. No one in this country can call himself morally upright. Kung meron man puwedeng pumalit kay GMA na morally upright, good luck to you!

What Can I Say?
I'm not really happy right now.
I'm tired and I always get headaches.
I'm disheartened by what's been happening.

ARGH!
I am so stressed and confused that I have nodules in/around my neck that would not go away! I have had this sore throat that bothers me on and off.
Ayaw ko na mag call center. I would rather be a janitress and clean an entire building right now. It's not that working for a call center is bad or not good enough for me, it's just that I would rather do manual labor right now and not use my brain anymore, or what's left of it. Hehehe.
Haayyy...

GIVE ME BACK MY PERSONAL SPACE!!
Ang init ng ulo ko!! Ang daming KSP nakakalat sa paligid ko!!
First off:
This guy who is so mayabang, would always brag that he would buy all his friends gifts and send them here to the Philippines. He announced in the chatroom that his package for everyone has arrived and that I should get in touch with this girl who received it for us. Right after he said that she left. Then he asked me if I could just contact her and if I know her number. I told him that I'm not sure if the number that I have is hers. Then he started bitching that he's the only one who knows the numbers of the girls there. Give me a break!! In the first place I don't chat as often as he does and I don't see her online, she is always parked but she's away from her keyboard. Second, if she has the package then she should be the one to get in touch with me. I don't want her to think kinukulit ko sya over the package. And if that was her we saw online, then why did she leave the chatroom right after he mentioned the package in the main room? Makes me think there's something wrong here! What I don't like about this guy is that he wants to show everyone that he's cool and he's popular and he's well liked. WAKE UP KNUCLEHEAD!! You may have lots of money, have lots of nice clothes and the latest hardware for your PC but YOU CAN NEVER BUY FRIENDSHIP!!
Next pet peeve for today.
I usually leave my PC online overnight but I always change my YM status message as ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzz (sleeping or tulog na or gnite world) so everyone on my list would not PM me unless it's very important. My goodness! A "friend" of mine went online and sent me this at 4AM:
friend (4:08:23 AM): hi
friend (4:08:27 AM): sleeping
friend (4:08:39 AM): k
friend (4:08:48 AM): sleep tight dont let the bed bugs bite..
He had to wake me up just to check if I'm already sleeping???? Was he trying to be funny or he's just plain stupid????
Last but not the least pet peeve for today.
Everytime this girl sees me come into the room she greets me. Nothing bad about that. But it has come to a point that even if I'm AFK or BRB she would send me notices. One time she asked me how to upload an avatar (for someone who is into IT stuff you don't know how to do that?). So being the nice and helpful ATE, I went to the site. I told her where exactly in the website she can change her profile and upload her avatar. To my surprise she told me that she wasn't in the site so she can't do it that moment. WTF?!?! Why would even ask me in the first place?? She knew I was going to log on to the site just so I could assist her. Then yesterday she kept sending me notice messages that she's got her on blog. She kept on bugging me about it. When I asked her what the URL of her blog is she couldn't give it to me. She is some freak!! This time, I've been quiet on my YM, she sends me messages, 10 stupid lines that don't mean anything!!! She pasted to me lyrics of a song!! Why do I care if she knows the song or not?! That's the last KSP thing she's gonna do to me!! If at 1 or 2 messages and I don't respond to you even if my status is available then stop sending me messages!! I could be away or I could be busy doing something that very moment!!
My goodness!! Don't these people have any sense of propriety??? My parents would always tell me not to speak unless you are spoken (to), didn't their parents teach them this? Just because someone is online doesn't mean you can just talk to this person. Don't they know the meaning of "personal space"? You have invaded my personal space by assuming you can just talk to me anytime!! Do I talk to you anytime? Do I talk to you unless I ask for your permission? Have the common sense to know when to talk to this person. Have the simple courtesy of asking if he/she is busy before you start yapping!!
Stop being KSP please!! GET A LIFE!!!

i was cleaning my inbox and i guess this e-mail fell through the cracks bec. i just got to read it now. so sorry kung sobrang delayed na 'tong reaction ko to what paolo wrote, but i wanted to comment anyway. and my comment is:
I AGREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thank you! finally, someone spoke up! thanks Paolo. good to know I'm not the only one who is irritated with people who don't bother to spell out their words or can't spell correctly anymore. if anything, for me it's out of respect for my readers. if i can take the extra effort to make myself more readable then why not, my readers are worth the extra effort. also sa mga mumi-me, (i.e. hr n me, wr n u?; d2 n me; slp n me;) PLEASE LANG! as Paolo rightly pointed out, it's not cute. it's so jologs.
also, given that phones are getting more and more advanced these days, try turning the Dictionary feature on. it's easy when you get the hang of it and it'll keep your spelling and grammar skills from deteriorating. it's important to have that discipline esp. when you step into the corporate world.

I third the motion. Let us do ourselves a favor and
use this venue as a means to practice our English
and/or Tagalog language skills, not to mention our
typing skills. Personally, I do not bother reading
those mails that are in text speak during the rare
times I do check my email.

Subject: [upgeclub] pakiusap lang
to everyone,
I would just like to make a suggestion and a comment
at the same time. Could all of us please refrain from
writing emails using the so-called "text speak." I ,
for one, am irritated seeing messages coming from the
internet written using "text speak," when you have a
keyboard and a full set of fingers that you could use
for typing. I understand that when using a cellphone,
we would like to maximize the length of a message
using only 160 or so characters, that we only have our
thumbs to do this, and that we are using our phones'
keypads. Not so when typing on the internet, unless
you guys are using your keypads still. For one thing,
it is difficult to understand "text speak" since it is
not standardized. Another is that we tend to lose our
English writing skills in terms of spelling and
grammar. And finally, i hate seeing the word "me"
being used inappropriately, whatever the case may be.
Whoever started this trend of using "me"
inappropriately in sms messages and whoever thinks
that using this word is cool or cute should be shot.
I am one of the advocates of the "no to text speak in
the internet." Believe me, people in forums and other
groups are beginning to ban the use of text speak
because of the abovementioned reasons.
But then again, I may be the only one here who
actually hates text speak in the internet. It's just
a suggestion anyway.
My response to Paolo's email:
Paolo has a point, no offense to text-typers/speakers. I do believe that there is no limit to the amount of characters we type on the internet, well except for some very few instances. Even when I send sms/text, I pretty much use regular words most of the time. A former student constructed a sentence similar to this: D roses is on d table. I was appalled!!! His Ate said he is used to text speak. I have a cousin who lives and breathes text speak. I make her repeat everything she types on IM or email when she uses text typing. I tell here that she doesnt have to make tipid the words she says on IM or email. I have a hard time understanding text typing or text speak. Her justification why she uses text typing: she's TAMAD.
Although technology has made our lives easier it has also has made most of us tamad. Pinoys are inclined to text rather than call, when I say call I mean use the landline to call someone who also has a phone at home. Everything has become impersonal. Are most Pinoys tamad or maybe we have forgotten the art of good old fashioned conversation? I'm not saying NO to text speak but we should all realize that there is a right time and place for everything. This also goes for the murder of both English and Filipino: alis na me, go ka d2, 22log na u, etc. Duhh?! Sometimes I wonder if I'm reading shorthand...
Of course, to each his own. If text speak works for you and the person you're "texting" online then go right ahead! MY generation rarely uses text speak online anyway. Understandably, the generation AFTER US are pre-disposed to use text speak because of genetics: most people of this generation are born all thumbs. Hehehe.
